braids for curly hair

As any curly-haired person can tell you, those curls can often have a mind of their own. Curly hair can still be braided, but care must be taken depending on the type of hair that is there. Curls or waves that can be easily brushed out and separated can be much more versatile in styling. For curls that tangle easily or cannot be separated, the braider should try to gather hair up by following the natural clump of the hair as much as possible.

Curly or wavy hair does particularly well with twists, as the natural coil of the hair works for the tension of the twist, and will hold it better than straight hair. Since curly hair usually has more natural volume, it helpds to make half braid styles look nice, particularly the cascade crown.
