basic (single) braids
| A basic braid is simply a single braid down the middle of the head; the most common way a braid is worn. The end is usually loose, but can also be tucked or wrapped. (more) |

classic (double) braids
| Classic braids are two braids, one down each side of the head. The ends can hang loose, but are often joined together into a single braid or wrapped into a bun and pinned together. (more) |

half braids
| Half braids is the terminology I use for any braided style which works primarily with a section of hair above the ears, leaving the lower part hanging loose on the neck. Dreamweaver Braiding calls this style "perfect." (more) |

crown braids
| Crown braids and headband braids involve a single braid that circles up and around the head, instead of from the face down to the neck. When the braid is finished in a circle, it looks as though the person is wearing a crown. (more) |

letter braids
| Letter braids are a theme I started for fun a few years ago, just to see what sort of interesting patterns I could put on a person's head. I'm working on getting the whole alphabet (and then some)! (more) |
